I wasn't trying to be confrontal either, so don't worry.

To answer your question: I've played Bioware games since 2000; each time with a male and female protagonist.
And everytime I played a female I got the feeling that it was forced on their part, not to mention that the male always gets like, three romances whiel the girl gets one.

And you know what? It never bothered me! I mean at least I had the option to play as a woman! But in Mass Effect it feels like they're trying very hard not to let people know that there is female pc - like they're ashamed of it.

Was there anything in particular that made you think they were ashamed of the female pc? Or was it just a general feeling? I can certainly see where you're coming from, and I empathize somewhat (it's frustrating to be a female gamer!) but I never really got the feeling that BioWare was any more "ashamed" of the female pc than any other game with a female pc option. It actually pisses me off more with KOTOR, since the "canon" Revan is apparently male, and there certainly are people out there who would love nothing more than to wipe the idea of a female!Revan off the face of the planet.

Have you checked out either of the Mass Effect novels, by the way? I've just started Mass Effect: Ascension (the one that takes place after the game), and I'm only 50 pages into it, but I noticed that when they mentioned Shepard, they took great care to avoid revealing anything specific about her/him, gender included. I thought that was interesting.
