The character customization for Saints Row 2 is still the greatest I've ever encountered, even after all this time, tbh.

I think Saints Row treats its female characters pretty well (and a few of its main characters are women), but SR2 is the only one I've played with any real similarity to GTA; the others are way too deliberately silly & cartoonish to compare. Like, in SR4, the gang leader becomes the president of the USA until aliens attack & destroy Earth, which is a bit more absurd than GTA tends to go, lmao. They're still worth playing, just don't go in expecting them to maintain the tone the series starts with. (I've never played the first one since it's only available for Xbox, but you don't get to pick your gender in it either, so)

But honestly, I don't actually have much of an issue with how GTA5 treated women? I definitely agree that it would've been amazing to have a couple prominent women in it, but I don't actually recall the female side characters being treated any worse than the male side characters were? The only ones with any depth whatsoever were the main three, and that was pretty much it.

Agreed about Saints Row! I especially love the Russian female voice in SR3, she's a lot of fun.
