So... *normal* chocolate makes you sad? Because only milk chocolate needs to have dairy in it and otherwise, basic chocolate is already vegan.

A lot of chocolate candy and semi-sweet chocolate and even some dark chocolate does have dairy even when not labeled as milk chocolate, but it's not a necessary component of chocolate.

I used to shop at a grocery store where the generic semi-sweet chocolate chips happened to be vegan (not labeled as such, probably due to shared manufacturing equipment, but there were no animal products listed in the ingrediernts). We're not talking bitter dark chocolate, here, just normal chips you would use in cookies.

You've probably had a lot of vegan chocolate and had no idea.
