Who are they? What makes them unpopular and why do you like them? Tell us!

Tracey Sketchit was universally hated because he replaced Brock.

I loved him because everyone else hated him, because he was an artist, and because I thought he was a lot cuter than Brock was.

Vivienne was my favourite character in Dragon Age Inquisition. A lot of people hated her because they disagreed with her opinions and/or she often came across as haughty (or according to some people, because she's black), but goddamn did I adore her. I loved everything about her attitude, her confidence, her ability to rise up in the world despite her circumstances... Like, I'd never argue she wasn't haughty: she absolutely could be, but all it did was make me want to bow to kiss her feet, tbh. I was so fucking sad when I found out she wasn't a romance option.

I also liked Sera, though it took me a while to warm up to her, so I'm a bit more understanding when it comes to others disliking her.

Lily on How I Met Your Mother. Rose in The Last Jedi.

But she was cute.

The Star Wars fandom is a toxic cesspool, and yes, she gets a lot of hate.

I mean I know the fandom can be shitty because the hate-boners people have towards the prequels are kind of nuts. But hating a character that's pretty cute and sweet is just... a bit bonkers honestly.

Glad I never really felt the fandom itch for these movies tbh.

The fandom has gotten a lot worse in the past few years I feel. It has always had issues. But there is just this certain brand of mostly-male OT fan who hates anything that doesn't fit exactly their vision.

It makes me sad because Star Wars is my second favorite thing after Tolkien, and I used to love to fandom it (you used to be able to find spaces free of hate, now it is everywhere).

They hate her because she's a minority female, and her mere existence makes them angry for some reason.

Oh that's just... ugh.

I don't even want to know what their reactions to Finn were... Jesus. God forbid a sci-fi movie have non-white characters in it.

Just... ugh.

They hated her so much it spread to the actress, who they hounded off of Instagram.

I... what.

But why would anyone... granted I'm questioning the fandom who relentlessly hated a child because he played a character they didn't like. Like jfc people, you can dislike a character without taking it to the actor who is btw just doing their job.

God I feel so sorry for her. :(

Jane Foster.

I just thought she was cute and I really like sciencey-ladies in media, so she won me over pretty quick in Thor. Felt like a majority of fandom hated her though so it was always hard to find any positive spaces about her. :/ And even now she still gets shit and people comparing her and Valkyrie together to make her seem even more terrible(as if the same people wouldn't unreservedly hate Valkyrie if she ever got paired off with Thor, ha).

Relena from Gundam Wing.

Granted it's been years since I watched the show but I remember enjoying her character and her and Hero's weird as fuck dynamic.

Bella Talbot from SPN.

I love morally grey Catwoman-type ladies as well and she fit the bill for this perfectly for me. I loved her and thought she was great, her death made sense even if it was sad and I've always wanted the show to bring her back as a demon. Fandom however hated her 'because she made the boys look stupid', nevermind the numerous characters that have done this during the course of the show.

I liked Bella too and, though I don't think they will, it'd be cool if the show brought her back as a demon.

It'd be neat but if they haven't done it by now they probably never will. Which is a shame, I'd love to see demon-Bela snark at them again.

Bela has grown on me. I really like her now. I used to hate her, but each time I rewatch my opinion of her grows.

Ah see that's neat, if I dislike a character it pretty much never gets better, only worse. It can make watching something with a character I dislike in it impossible as a result.

I think partially it is because female anti-heroes are so few and far between, and partially because in hindsight, I'm able to separate her from shipping. Really don't like her with Dean, and at the time the season first aired and the few seasons after, all the Bela love was coming from shippers. I'm not even in the fandom anymore, which makes it easier to develop my own opinions.

I maaaaaay have been one of those Bela/Dean shippers. :P

But I also primarily loved her on her own merits too, she was smart and resourceful and I liked that.

But it's cool that it's not your jam, like what you like and all. It was just kind of frustrating dealing with people hating her for shit that other characters did as well yanno? Not that you were, just in general in the fandom.

I wouldn't have guessed there was hate for Jane Foster. I thought she was all right; tbh I was pretty annoyed by the dreaded off-screen breakup (which I hate in general) in Thor: Ragnarok and her absence from the movie (though I understand the reasons why that happened).

I got tired of the hate for Relena too. She gets a lot of shit yet does a lot, and people forget she's only 15-16.

Ah Maybe I had trouble finding the Thor(the movie, not the character) fans who didn't hate her but all I saw was dislike to outright hatred and it got really old really fast.

She was cute, no need to get all weird about it because you want the brothers to bone.

Oh man realizing that all the characters in GW were 15-16 puts all their dumbass choices into complete perspective, like holy crap. I was never in the fandom for it at the time, but I found out later that pretty much everyone hated her and I was like 'oh, okay'.

Becky Rosen on Supernatural. Fandom hates her for very legit reasons (creepy fangirl with boundary issues who sexually assaulted Sam), but I liked her because she was such a caricature of a fangirl and I felt a little sorry for her because she didn't seem to have friends and was something of a loser. I just wish she hadn't roofied Sam.

Not so much like as defend until the end of time. The kid Sam from The Walking Dead didn't deserve all the hate he got.

Lynn Minmay. The Robotech version.

She's unpopular because she's a whiny teen who's only concerned with her singing career, and she's voiced by someone in the English version who, quite frankly, doesn't sing very well (though to be fair, she knows it and didn't have a choice in the matter).

I like her because she knows what she wants, and isn't afraid to say when she's dissatisfied. She's very supportive of the military and doesn't take shit from anyone who criticizes them unfairly. Maybe she isn't at her best 100% of the time, but she can be kind and gracious. I just kind of feel like people hate her for being human, and for acting like what she is: a teenager.
