Are you an ace? Because otherwise I don't understand this secret. Do gay/lesbian characters not have chemistry and sexual tension?

(Anonymous) 2018-07-10 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Presumably, OP has a certain understanding of what "sexual tension" means, and Reylo doesn't fall into that understanding, and OP thinks that this is because Reylo fans are straight whereas OP is (presumably) not, and both groups' ideas of what constitute sexual tension are linked to their sexual identity.

Well, that's silly. If straight people can have slash goggles, then gay people can have het goggles.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-11 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently not, because only straight people are ever wrong about these things: didn't you get the memo?

(Anonymous) 2018-07-11 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's right, this secret is attacking straight people. /sarcasm

I'm straight and I don't see the sexual chemistry between them. Kylo is like the poster boy of incels.

Are you an idiot?

There is literally only one scene in canon that can be read as remotely sexual (hehe, "remotely" is right): the one where Kylo Ren is shirtless, and Rey is distracted. But even that one can be read as revulsion, or just Rey being unused to seeing other human beings naked, perhaps even herself -- not too many mirrors in her sandy home.

Every other scene shows that Kylo Ren is in Rey's head, pulling at her, making her think about him. So when you ask, "Is Rey fascinated with Kylo Ren?" I say YES! Because that part is canon, and that alone.
