Fandom Frustration!

There's a fic with great characterization for my fave (yay!), but the fic is a slow burn (yay again!) for my NOTP (booboo!). Why anon, did you click on it to begin with? Because I knew from the fucking summary the author had a handle on my fave. And now I'm torturing myself because I want to finish his characterization but I know this author will write the ship so well, I'm gonna so fucking mad lol I love my fave but I strongly dislike this ship unless it's a no strings attached situation! I've never been such a fool in all my fandoming days...Why oh why was I such a fool.

I hate the most popular pairing for my favourite character in my current fandom. The ship itself isn't so bad, it's just kinda generic, but the fans are the worst and really put me off. And it sucks that so many great artists for the character casually throw in the popular pairing, and it drives me up the wall!

A general one: I love that AO3 finally decided to install an "exclude" option for filtering but now my carefully curated (-"word") searches don't work anymore because I think they're too long for the new search function? Or something?
