Tolkien is pretty chill most of the time. We mostly stay in our sections and enjoy things how we enjoy them, and there isn't a ton of judging others for their opinions except every once in a while.

I think this just proves that you can be very good at crafting your own space because there has been and still is a lot of drama. There are certain places where I still can't talk about Tolkien because of Feanorian wank, gatekeeping wank, etc. I wouldn't say Tolkien fandom is chill at all.

Given how shitty a lot of book purists still are to anyone who dares admit to enjoying the films, I'm going to have to call bullshit on the claim that there isn't a lot of judging other people for their opinions in Tolkien fandom.
