My new job is a fairly laid back place (casual dress, people hanging out, loosely defined hours). I regularly go in at 7am or 7:15am so I can get off early every day (4-4:15). Lately, I've been taking short lunches here or there so I can get off early on Fridays (around 3-3:30).

On Fridays I almost always have nothing much to do. We have one meeting but it isn't really necessary I go. I don't do anything in these meeting and everyone there just wants to get through it quickly to start the weekend.

So far, my boss hasn't said anything about me getting off early. But I worry that maybe it is a jerk move? I get my 40 hours every week. Should I ask him if it is cool that I do this? the first few times I did get off, I would ask him and he was just go, "Okay." or "I don't care."

Just get the fuck outta there. Especially in light of this:

I would really say that you just don't need to worry about it at all. Also, just out of curiosity, what industry/area?

Manufacturing. Mondays-Wednesdays are my busiest days. Thursday is finishing up the last of my work. And Friday is just a nothing day except for that one meeting. I wish it was customary that people were payed by the work they do and not hours.
