Just get the fuck outta there. Especially in light of this:

Should I ask him if it is cool that I do this? the first few times I did get off, I would ask him and he was just go, "Okay." or "I don't care."

I would really say that you just don't need to worry about it at all. Also, just out of curiosity, what industry/area?

Manufacturing. Mondays-Wednesdays are my busiest days. Thursday is finishing up the last of my work. And Friday is just a nothing day except for that one meeting. I wish it was customary that people were payed by the work they do and not hours.
