What gets me most about how stupid his idea was is that it wasn't that long ago that Earth's population was half what it is now. And after killing off half the population, it won't take long for it to go right back to where it was. So his idea doesn't even accomplish what he wants it to. It's so stupid I can't believe anyone would base anything on it. And it annoys me to no end.

If it helps in the comics his main motivation for killing half the population is so he can attract/seduce Death.

I don't think that explanation makes him at all sympathetic, but at least it actually makes some sense. I could see it as a lot less stupid plan with that for the goal than for his stated goal in the movies. Now I'm kinda annoyed they changed it and expected the stated goal to work as a rational motive.

Yeah, he's not sympathetic, but at least Squirrel Girl can beat him. Also at the end of the day Lady Death marries Deadpool and has no interest in Thanos so...did not work out for him the way he hoped.
