Re: Joss Whedon New TV Series

The premise sounds interesting but Joss has become an incredibly lazy writer and hasn't grown at all since the 90's.

I especially resent both his one-note creation of drama that revolves around the "is a character happy? Take that thing/person that makes them happy away from them! (which in his mind always seems to translate to 'any married or dating couple will wind up with a dead partner')" and his inability to write adult relationships that resonate any higher than bickering 13 yr olds.

The latter in particular seems to have been branded as a stylistic choice, so I can't expect that to change. Additionally, he doesn't seem to have noticed that the 90's are over, and yes, we all know what a trope is now, and no, his idea of subversion is not genius-level clever or new in 2018, nor is anachronistic banter a complete substitute for character development, so I'm personally not holding out for a major improvement.

I'd love to be pleasantly surprised, though.
