I know what you mean.

I feel that Food Network's various Baking Championship shows aren't yoo bad on thus front, although still not quite as nice (and the whole thing is less adorable).

I agree. I love(d) this show because they seem to be genuinely supportive of each other. I think the relatively lower stakes makes/made it less cutthroat, and that was nice. Plus, being American, I always giggle at the very British way the contestants express their feelings.

You will pry Chopped from my cold, dead hands

Wait, who's threatened to take away Chopped?

If you haven't already, I'd recommend trying out "Masterchef Junior". Unlike its adult predecessor, the kids are all so supportive of each other, and the judges mix both compliments and gentle critique.

I just got into "The Great British Bake Off" (screw you, Pillsbury), myself, and it's been the last straw that ruined a lot of the more obnoxious cooking/baking shows for me, too. Though I haven't got to the newer seasons yet. Keeping my fingers crossed that I still enjoy it when I get there!

Try Masterchef Australia. Both the contestants and the judges are generally super positive and supportive of each other (so much that the judges got criticised for it) and it's quite enjoyable to watch. I don't even usually watch cooking shows but this one is just very entertaining in a nice way.

This.

I never watch the American version, but when the Australian Masterchef reaches my country, I try to make time for it.

There is none of the drama between the contestants, they actually encourage each other even when competing, no one accuses each other for ruining team challenges even if some one was clearly the weakest link. The judges are sympathetic, and having been on the show for so long already, have a nice rapport with each other.
