If you had a chance to work on something official in your fandom...

... whether it's a book, movie or TV show, what would you do? Do you think your perspective as a fan would influence how good the end result was?

A book I guess. Writing is the only fandom thing I can do. I could maybe be a expert for a lawyer show. But for things I'm already a fan of, it would be writing.

Nope. I think skill is skill. Someone who puts the effort in, does the research, and makes sure all the details are right can do an amazing job regardless of whether they are a fan or not.

I’d probably work on costumes, maybe fabric dyeing/distressing. Or for some of them I guess I could write tie-in novels or graphic novels. And I don’t know that my being a fan would mean anything. I don’t even know if my being a fan might make the end product worse from a commercial standpoint.

I was going to say no but above anon mentioned costumes and let me tell you, if I could make high-quality costumes for the stage show actors who put on One Piece at the theme parks or other live presentations...you better fuckin believe I would. Real silks and linens and wool suitcoats and mmmmm....

but there's no chance of working on anything in the fandom otherwise and I'm okay with that. Kudos to the young artists who get to be Oda's assistants, he sounds fun.

I'd love to do lore writing or character design for the Elder Scrolls. I've been a fan since the 90s so I feel like I know a lot about the lore. I'm also in a psychology/therapy day job so I think I might be able to help them with their lackluster character writing problem...

Show runner. ;) I know that's a real jump there but I'd love to try it.
