Re: Job hunting

Dude send them. Even if they're cheesy they still show you appreciate the time they took to talk to you and that goes a lot farther than you'd think.

I've only just restarted a serious job search. Right now I'm working two unpaid internships, one is actually in the field I'm interested in, the other is somewhat adjacent to it.

I could actually use some advice. Right now, I'm looking to quit one of my unpaid internships. It's not in a field that I'm interested in, it sucks up a bit of my time and again, it's unpaid. It's especially frustrating because when I started my boss told me they'd bump me up to a paid position if my performance was good. However, I've only receive a single stipend in the past few months. How do I approach the issue of getting paid more regularly/frequently for my work? And how do I gracefully quit if it turns out my boss can't afford to pay me?

I think it's a fair concern. What kind is internship is it? just a semester, or indefinite? If it's only a few months aligning with a school term, I'd recommend just finishing the internship off. Might as well collect the reference and the experience for your resume. If it's longer, money is a factor consideration. If you aren't afraid to lose the job, go ahead and have an earnest conversation with your boss about how you're having trouble managing your various obligations with the need for making money. Nothing wrong with being honest that you don't think you can continue unless there are compensation options, if you aren't worried about potentially losing the internship.
