111-Dude, I don't say comic book because I'm avoding it, I don't say it because comic book refers to the 21 page issue to me, and a GN is the gathering of those. Also, LOL bitter watchmen fan.

122-...you know, you're right, they're NOT perfect, but that doesn't make them not a good, loving family.

158- Not why I ship Irukashi~

160- well I will NOW. XD

169-...really, I don't think that's a stab at bisexuality. "Happily married" is just a way to describe your marriage.

173- ♥

I agree. To me, "comic books" are the short little issues and graphic novels are the bound collections of the short issues. It's not like I'm ~*~ZOMG EMBARRASSED~*~ about having read a (GASP) comic book.

No, I get that there are a lot of people who use both comic book and graphic novel neutrally, but I was aiming at the far greater number of people I've encountered who do act like there a huge difference between the two and offended at the implication that they would read anything as "low" as a comic book.

And, FWIW, this is the first adaptation of anything that I've actually cared and been pessimistic about.

To me, 'comic book' is the medium, 'graphic novel' is a description of the work, to distinguish it from ongoing titles, the collections of which I call 'trades'. There was tl;dr in here, but I deleted it because I sounding like a pretentious twat.

Anyway: Graphic Novel = self contained story, written and read as one work.
Trade = published anthologies of comics collected together after the fact.

I don't think there's a difference in quality or worth between the formats; I love both.

I think the issue was with the way the actor used 'married' as apparent proof she isn't bisexual. Like, "I'm not bisexual - I'm married". As though the two are incompatible.

[identity profile] karma-kalisutah.livejournal.com 2008-08-07 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
169. Yeah, but since when does "[any adverb] married" contradict bisexuality, is I think what the OP is saying.
