i mean, the fact that scarjo ended up backing out does imply that a public outcry has some force behind it.

but considering that the issue lies with the director, producer, casting coordinator, and a whole set of other people involved in the process, all of whom were apparently fine with casting a cis woman to play a trans man... while i would love to have the movie, i don't think most of the set of people working on it should be anywhere near it. i'd be sad that that movie doesn't happen, but it would probably be sadder if it did.
