How she couldn't have found or made up a role for her to play as a cis-woman while having a trans lead in the role is beyond me. It still could have gotten made, she still could have angled for a supporting actress nom.

Now it just looks like "I'm taking my toys and going home!"

This makes it sound like she couldn't have won either way tbh. She made a bad decision by accepting the role, yes, but by apologizing and stepping down according to you, she's throwing a tantrum.

She's not the only producer, so a lot of the onus is on the other three men as well. Other than that, the rest of my statement stands. Make the film, take a side part, be seen as someone who is glad we're having this conversation, it's time, instead everyone just dropped it for no reason besides "people yelled at us to do better."
