Basically, Melkor and Sauron are both meant to be the devil, literally in Melkor's case. They're sadistic, evil, petty, and do this stuff just for the fun of it. And if you are a good guy or just a normal guy and end up in their fortresses? Really, really sucks to be you.
Bad enough to be a normal prisoner. If they want something from you or you are important in some way? You are in for a very painful, miserable time. Those who died in battle were probably the lucky ones.

(Anonymous) 2018-07-23 01:52 am (UTC)(link)I'd be more chill with it if Pokemon were spirits and there were real animals out there, but it's never really suggested. They are basically just intelligent animals with supernatural capabilities.
Also, food question aside - who the fuck lets 10-year-old children out into the dangerous wilds to hunt dragons, etc.? I wouldn't let a 21-year-old do that.
