I've always found the assumption that Mary would have a French accent in English very odd. For example, we know Elizabeth was taught French from the cradle and would not expect her to speak it with an accent.

Even while she was living in France Mary was still Queens of Scots and got an extensive education, including about Scotland. She easily could have been taught English by a Scottish Tutor when she was still young, along with Gaelic and Latin. That kind of early intensive teaching can indeed make a child fluent.

So if anything I would think it most likely she spoke Scottish English learned from a Scottish tutor.
