Sounds like OP feels that the artist is supposed to be a public servant, and not, yanno, actually have FUN painting for themself.

Also, How Dare everyone else in the fandom not be as bored and disinterested with the character as OP is!

I don't care about the character either way. This artist used to draw really popular stuff, like Doctor Who and Sherlock and now all of a sudden they keep drawing this boring ass character as played by someone 30 years ago or something...I'm mad about it because their art is beautiful and I think they're wasting their fucking time and talent by spending so much time on this asshole

As a fanartist who was once in all the big fandom and did popular shit, but is now in a small obscure one and is all over one particular character: go fuck yourself, OP. No one ows you crap and we are free to 'waste' our talent however we like. As if you're fucking paying that favourite artist of yours any money, ffs.

As a somewhat popular artist, I feel a lot more like I'm wasting my time when I draw something that will appeal to a lot of people but I'm not exceptionally passionate about than I do when I draw something I'm into even if 5 other people total will give a shit about it.

If you want someone to draw what you want, consider paying them for it.
