My day has been terrible. ICE moved my client to a different detention center without telling us, even though we sent in the forms saying we were representing them. Which is not allowed, but no one is going to do anything about it because ICE gets away with everything they want. They also interviewed our other client without us and deported them, which also isn't okay. I spent four hours calling on both cases, trying to get some answers.

Anyone else having a better day?

That utterly, utterly sucks. Damn.

No, my day was okay, but ended horribly as i found out my daughter's best friend was badly burned in an explosion/fire at her home, and her cat and the kitten she was fostering are dead.

Her wee daughter, however, is safe, and her dog. But holy fuck. And the house is gone, utterly leveled.

Oh my god, that's awful. I'm so, so sorry about your daughter's friend and her cats and her whole family for losing their house. Damn. That's just so terrible.

I am so, so sad for her, for losing everything, all her daughter's things, just - everything.

And she's in the burn ward, and i don't know yet how bad she is, and of course my daughter is horribly upset....BAH.

Anyway - I hope tomorrow will be better.

I hope so too. Man. This is really putting things in perspective for me right now, all this. Been having mental health issues recently. But nothing in my life remotely compares to what any of these people are dealing with. I can't even imagine my house burning down or being deported or losing my cat.

Oh my god, I am so, so sorry. I have no words. That's just horrible. I wish her the speediest recovery. Holy fuck.

Thank you so much. I just...i feel useless, I have no money, i can't *help* her, really, i mean - I'll be here for her, but i just feel like....
I wish i could do *something*.

:( Sometimes all we can do is just be there for people. I know it really sucks to feel powerless, but just being there can make such a huge difference, and I'm sure you'll be a huge comfort to the girl and her family right now. Please keep us informed on how she does. Again, I'm so sorry you and your family are going through this. <3

I just caught my first mouse with a bucket trap! Now I'm torn between, yay, if traps work I might get the infestation under control, and, but how do I actually kill it??

Maybe take the trap out into a field and then release it?

I live in the middle of a big city, releasing it anywhere will just mean it'll find its way into someone else's house. Or a cat's stomach, which I'd prefer but can't be sure of.

Kills them very quickly and humanely. Otherwise, I can't help you, because I wouldn't be able to just reach down and somehow kill a wee mouse no matter how much i detest having rodentia anywhere near me.

Not really. Had to leave work early because my sister had to go to the doctor. She has been throwing up all weekend (she lost four pounds) and had not felt her baby all day. She has a kidney infection and was super dehydrated. But she is on her way home now.

I'm sorry about your sister. Kidney infections are the worst. I hope she starts feeling better soon.

I had an okay day. Went to the dentist and bought a beanbag chair at Target afterwards. It's comfy.

ICE sucks. Honestly. And this is all new to me because in my previous immigration work I didn't work with detained clients. Just how much they stonewall and just refuse basic parts of their job like answering the phone is mind boggling.

Not really. Still feeling horrible after yesterday. Invited a family member over to celebrate my dad's birthday and have a small party that I'd planned for him, and they took me aside to tell me what a burden I was for still living at home and how it wasn't fair on my dad. Okay. Well I'm not sure what they expect the outcome of that little talk to be. I can't fix my serious health problem so I can't work and I can't afford a place on my own. So I guess what you're really saying is that he'd be better off if I kill myself? Because that's really my only other option.

What a terrible person. I'm sorry they said that to you. It is your life and your father's life. They don't know anything. They don't get to tell you what you should do with your own life. Fuck them. Honestly. Ignore them. They know nothing.

Thanks. It's not the first time I've heard this from family members but it's been harder this time because we've been trying to sort out finances for moving to a new house that would be better for me. I know my dad will have to dip into retirement savings and I feel awful about it because I don't want to be a burden. Everything is just really hard right now because this isn't the life I wanted either and I see all my friends moving on with relationships and careers and I know that's never going to be me. I've accepted it, but I'm still grieving. Of course, I can't express that because people react like it's shocking and I need treatment for... having negative emotions? I'm not depressed, I'm just dealing with stuff I can't feel happy about.

I've just started my week off work that I was really looking forward to, but I think not having the work routine is just giving me too much time to think on stuff and making my depression worse. I've done basically nothing all day. :/

On one case, yes, somewhat. On the other, no. it was super frustrating.

Sorry about your depression. Having issues with that myself. And it is okay to do nothing all day. Some days are just like that, and it is totally okay.

Man that's rough.

I was out doing manual labor all day. So my day was hot, sweaty, and dirty. And I ripped a big hole in my shin by tripping into the sharp end of a pipe. And I'm really fucking sore and tired from lifting every heavy object in the fucking state. But other than all that it was actually alright. We made a lot of progress on the job, and my gf is staying with me so she was there to help out a bit. But more importantly thn the extra helping hand, just having her around is pretty swell.

Dang. You up to date on tetanus shots?

Nope! :D I'm living dangerously.
