I disagree. I think he believed in her, believed in her potential, believed not just in Donna-after-she-sees-the-universe, but DONNA, as a woman, as a human, as a person. SHE would say, "I've gone back to being a nobody" but I don't think she was EVER a nobody. The Doctor doesn't think she was ever a nobody. She had a beautiful, amazing, better life torn away from her, and I'm not debating the tragedy of it. Of course she didn't want him to take it away, but he saved her because he believed in her. Hell, I'd never want to have to make that decision, but he thought Donna, Donna Noble, sans Doc, sans Tardis etc deserved to live. And her future is uncertain. It has the potential to be better than everyone thinks. God knows her mother will likely treat her better.

I don't think it's fair to cheapen Donna by saying that she's was only worthwhile because of her experiences with the Doctor. And I don't think it's fair to cheapen him by calling a painful (for both) act, meant to SAVE a life, rape. Ethically ambiguous, difficult, tragic, hurtful, emotional, kind, unkind, and/or sacrificial, yes. Rape? No. That is not what rape is. Mental, or otherwise.
