I have nothing to say about his "death" but as far as what he did, I thought he reacted the way most people would. We've seen plenty of other characters get emotional and not face the same backlash (looking at you, Tony)

Good point. Tony's forever doing emotional poor impulse control stuff. It's one of the reasons why I don't really care for his character and I'd be okay with Iron Man not being such a big part of future MCU films.

I'd like him more if he got more realistic pushback for his actions and learned from his mistakes. I think it's a disservice to his character (and I did like Tony initially!) not to have that developmental arc.

Honestly I felt like everyone in Infinity Wars was reacting emotionally except Strange, Vision, and Wanda. Well, Steve too, but he never had the chance to react emotionally. But everyone who lost things personally, pretty much, reacted emotionally. I felt like the filmmakers think that everyone who loses someone in that sort of situation would react like that, that no one could possibly control themselves and think clearly and understand what was at stake. I would expect more characters to act like Wanda and be able to make the right decisions even when they have endured horrible things. Thor, certainly, has dealt with a ton of stuff already and still been able to do what had to be done. He's the one who had his own planet destroyed. So it felt a little out of character.

And the other thing was Gamora. I know we had to have Thanos get all the stones. But I feel like Gamora knew what was at stake and wanted to stop Thanos above all else. I don't think she would have told him where the stone was, even to save Nebula. Heck, I don't think she would have done it to save Starlord either.

Don't get me wrong, I still loved the movie.

I agree and I think people who are angry about it, especially if it's to the point of harassing Pratt like WTF, probably have stupid opinions about a lot of characters.

Are you? Tony gets worshipped to hell and back in this fandom. Half the Marvel tag posts on tumblr are about poor woobie Tony and how perfect he is and how he's the backbone of everything ever. Hell, IronStrange is a ship built on the foundation of Strange beating or roasting the shit out of Steve for being mean to poor Tony in CW.

I'm sorry most of fandom thinks your fave made a dumbass decision, but stop pretending he's the only character ever to be criticized for dumbass decisions, because that's just straight up bullshit.

Yeah, sadly I see more of that side of fandom. The Tony Stark love is spooky -- but it's very US-American, for sure. He was explicitly created as arms-dealer trust-fund baby capitalist to the crowds, and look at how that played out. Uh...this secret is a little unclear to me? Which of the characters pictured are you talking about? I mean, I've seen the movie, and I don't want to ruin it if you haven't, but how I'd answer this secret really depends on who you mean.

I'm just saying, the ending is different between Rocket and Starlord. At least as far as I remember. Trying not to spoil.

Personally I am so over people blaming character X, Y or Z who isn't Thanos for how Infinity War ultimately went down. I don't even care if people are joking because it's hard to tell, the other characters aren't the architect of this whole thing. They're all reacting (sometimes completely stupidly but often understandably) to a problem ultimately caused by THANOS. If he didn't want the stones so badly and wasn't so married to his stupid extremist plan that the universe didn't even ask for, none of this would've happened.

I mean stuff like "Thor should've gone for the head, it's his fault" Yeah I'm pretty sure Thor just wanted Thanos to suffer painfully for as long as possible. Call it impulsive and stupid but Thanos DID kill half Thor's people, his friend/mentor and his brother. The latter of which was drawn out to the point of pushing it in a kids film. I think we can give Thor a pass on not wanting to make it quick.

Basically...not a Star Lord fan but I know how you feel!

I felt that way about Loki, OP. I really didn't want him to die, or if he were to die, I wanted it to be in a cool way (spoilers- it was just stupid and OOC, so I was severely annoyed).
With Infinity War, I wish now that I'd read the synopsis and then decided whether to see the film. It had great moments, but I feel like I'm one of the few people who honestly didn't think it was great. It was just okay, but I felt had a lot of problems.
For the next Infinity War, I'll probably spoiler myself first and if the plot again is all over the shop, I'll wait for it to come on netflix.
