There is performative stuff, but I don't think this is it

Because m/m shippers also do this and it doesn't seem performative there so I don't think it is here

Lol I'm the anon above who mentioned people doing the same with m/m ships, I was about to say this

I do think some of it is performative and probably some part of it is pairing up the spare women to "get them out of the way" of whatever other juggernaut ships, but I also think way more women are way more comfortable now expressing their interest in f/f than before, or openly identifying as bi/gay. If m/m shippers don't need a reason besides "whatever, I think they're hot together" neither should f/f

Though shipping things seriously with deep romances and shit before the character even gets a character or personality is equally lol for both
