Fuck, I know, specially when it's clear from the writing that they're pushing themselves to do it but would rather write a m/m pairing (for example, because the f/f fic revolves around the two women getting a m/m ship together).

It didn't sound like that was what OP was talking about though. Those are technically m/m shippers who want to "get the woman out of the way", not really f/f shippers, arent they?

I've seen f/f shippers who are eager to jump on any female character to pair another female character with or saying they'd love a ship with [female character] because she strikes them as totally queer but there aren't any eligible women and they're waiting for one to appear, etc etc. At least, that's how I interpreted the secret. It's just typical shipper behavior really

*I'd like to add there's nothing unusual with waiting around to pounce on a ship, whether it's for f/f or m/m or m/f or whatever, which is what I meant by a typical shipper behavior thing

I was replying to the commenter who described some f/f shipping as performative, rather than to the secret itself.
