I've seen it argued on ontd and tumblr that het ships are now more woke, apparently m/m and f/f is 'fetishistic' and down to internalized misogyny, while het is 'female representation.' We're truly living in a golden age, people!

Really? I've seen recognition that the same fetishistic elements that have always been present in f/f porn that's clearly made for heterosexual men are also commonly present in slash that is clearly written by and catering to straight women. The only people I've seen claiming that this means that het must be more woke now are fangirls who can't deal with criticism of the genre and are butthurt that no one's giving them ally brownie points for their Stucky fics anymore.
