We may hear about it when it's an MCU star or Gal Godot, especially if they go in costume, but think about all the athletes and Star Trek/Wars actors who must do this? I remember watching something about Star Trek where Kate Mulgrew mentioned that if she gets a call about a kid in a hospital, she tries to go if she can because she knows the kid won't be there next time. I certainly don't remember any publicity about "Captain Janeway" visiting sick kids. Also, social media probably creates a lot of the publicity. 30 years ago you would need a news crew present if you wanted your visit to be on the news. Now people post pictures to the internet and news outlets pick up on it and broadcast the images originally posted to social media.
