The peach and battery don't ping anything for me so I guess I'm not in your main fandom, but I definitely relate to the feel!

In the fandom I'm currently most active in, there's... one pairing (I'll just call it A/B) that everyone has been shipping from the start. And then I'm all in on A/C, but I'm literally the only person to have written fic for it. It's not a question of canon interaction, which is exactly the same for both. It's not even strictly about dynamic, which people interpret very differently... it's just the one that got big right away I guess.

(the people who ship A/B are very cool at least and a lot of people are happy to multi-ship, but like... it's still lonely not to have other fic for my ship on AO3)

OP: The ship this secret is about is like that! I ship A/B, but most of the fandom actually prefers to ship both those characters with another character, C, so there's lots of A/C and B/C. Sometimes people draw A/B/C, but nobody ever does A/B... And having no fic is the WORST :(
