I like that movie as a movie, but I agree that part is offensive. The whole World Without George is also just kind of silly. I mean, it's narratively necessary to make George see that he has had a positive impact on many people, so you can't say "Well, there are many possible outcomes to you not being born and some of them are bad but others are just fine..." Still, was not being happily married at all really Mary's only/most likely fate without George? Was the town destined to turn into a pit of vice without George instead of people just moving away?
