Question

(Anonymous) 2018-07-31 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Does the fact that Tom Cruise does his own stunts make Mission: Impossible any more enjoyable for you? Does it make the stunts better at all?

Sometimes.

I feel like if they have the actual actor doing the stunts then they can shoot it from more angles, get closer shots of certain parts. So, it can lend itself to some very well-shot stunts. But sometimes, I think the stunts are dumb and are more about showing off than anything else.

I don't think it changes the film at all. However, I bet the cast and crew felt great being paid for doing nothing while his injury healed.

No, but ask me that same question about Jackie Chan and I'll have a way different answer for you.

Fair.

Cruise: An army of stunt coordinators to make the shots look dangerous with every tooth in his head insured for a million dollars.

Chan: Hold my beer. If this works, it will look AMAZING.

No? Honestly, I only ever saw the first one. As a fan of the original series, that movie offended me. And since I hate Tom Cruise, I've had no real reason to try with the later ones.

Not really. Good for Tom Cruise, I admire that he does his own stunts and I appreciate that's dangerous and takes a high level of skill, but I don't think any less of actors who have stuntmen, bc not everyone is cut out to stunt.

With Tom Cruise? No, because I feel like it's some weird ego thing with him. With other actors, maybe. It depends on the actor.
