Here's the best advice I can give you for meeting people online: if your online personality is the same as your offline personality and theirs is as well, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

If it's not... then this probably isn't a great idea. I've met half a dozen online friends, and for the most part it's gone swimmingly, but the times when it doesn't it's because the friends I've made turn out to be completely different irl. I've met people who were amazing to talk to when they were behind a computer screen but as soon as we met face to face they were uncomfortable talking about fandom, self-conscious, standoffish, didn't want to appear "geeky" in public etc. etc.

Just don't do that, OP.

Also, remember to hydrate on the plane, wash your hands often (especially before you eat), and get up to walk around/stretch your legs every hour or so. Very important to do so! Plane rides come with their own unique set of health risks- you really don't want to be sitting for more than 3 hours at a time if you can help it.
