Re: Questions or Advice
(Anonymous) 2018-07-31 02:45 am (UTC)(link)* Definitely have a back up plan for your accommodations and transport. Make sure that your online girlfriend isn't your sole means of ANYTHING.
* Research about where you're going like you were planning a vacation solo.
* Try to manage your expectations and not get them up too high. I'm not saying this won't work out, I'm saying that it's easy for years and years of build up to lead to some unrealistic expectations for how smoothly the meeting will go.
* Expect that things will be super awkward, at least for a while. It's like herpy said - if your online personality is like your in person personality, you'll be good. Hopefully, the same is true of your girlfriend.
* Take things SLOWLY. Having a relationship online isn't the same thing as IRL. Note - I'm not saying it's not as good, but it IS different and you'll both be figuring out how your relationship works in a very different setting.
* Try to get plenty of rest before your flight and don't forget to stay hydrated and eat properly. It's easy to forget that in the excitement. Have fun, anon!
