The reverse sexism argument just seems totally and obviously bizarre and insupportable in this context, unless you really and truly think that women are genetically incapable of being funny

which I guess people do think

now I'm bummed out

Sadly, yes. The arguments I remember seeing was that it was soooo unfair to force shows to book unfunny, undeserving women instead of hilarious, worthy men. And it's not like they didn't give lady comedians a chance! It's just that women aren't funny and they make dumb jokes about periods, blah blah blah...

Defending the sanctity of that temple of devotion to high art, the British panel game show

(Anonymous) 2018-08-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I have never seen a British panel game show, but this comment made me laugh out loud, and honestly I'm still smiling over it.

I am in agreement.

I love UK panel shows and Mock the Week in particular. And I am totally okay with not having all-male panels. I wouldn't mind a show with 3 or 4 or even 5 women on the panel.

Andy Parsons was okay, but it does seem a bit more carefree without him.

Cats Does Countdown did an all women special in honour of the anniversary of women getting the vote and it was glorious. Well, apart from the woman whose thing seemed to be an impression mocking another actress....that seemed a bit at odds with the spirit of the show, personal opinion of course.

Who are the guys on the right? They're very cuddly and cute and I'm shipping them!

Nish Kumar and Ed Gamble, snd they're delightful.

AYRT

Thanks! I'm definitely going to start watching this now, and I'll probably start with episodes they're both in.

Nish in particular is a hilarious, sweet man. I don't know if you've seen the show Taskmaster, but it's awesome and he was in one of the more recent seasons.

Ooh, thanks! I'll definitely check that out.

Yeah, whoever told Parsons he was funny - NOPE.

Personally I've been able to enjoy QI again with Sandi now as the host. Of course Fry is kind of a dick, but in this case I was just tired of the show being the same from season to season and Sandi felt like a nice change.

Am... Am I the only one who actually LIKED Andy Parsons? My top five are Hugh Dennis, Romesh Ranganathan, Greg Davies, Milton Jones and Michael McIntyre (I think Nish is a sweetheart but I honestly don't find him that funny, and the less said about Frankie, the better).
