Backups of what? And what passwords to change? Reddit ones? Or is there some way it somehow has access to other sites?

1. Backups of user data including email addresses and passwords used on Reddit.
2. Change your reddit password, also any site where you may have used the same password and username/email combination.

Basically, if there's any reason to believe your password was compromised, they will prompt you to reset it. Or, if you just don't want to take any chances, regardless of what year you joined or how your e-mail settings were, then you can also change it.
