That's wonderful, OP. :) Good for you! I went through a period in junior high when I had to hide my inner otaku, too. In high school, I managed to score an amazing group of nerdy friends that would go with me and cosplay and conventions. Even a friend I had been afraid to tell I liked anime to ended up getting into it - I didn't give her enough credit at all, I thought she'd drop me when she found out I was such a "loser". I've since parted geographically speaking from those friends, but we get together every Christmas when we're all back in our hometown visiting family, and we go out to sushi. My current friend group is also a bunch of anime-loving geeks, even at the average age of 30. It's awesome, no regrets at all.
