You get $5,000 every day...

(Anonymous) 2018-08-05 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
... but you're only allowed to keep it if you spend the entire amount. You can't deposit it savings. You can't invest it in stocks, etc. You can't give it away or donate it to charity. You MUST buy something tangible with it. What do you buy?

Whatever I need for the day. Then I buy some land, and pay off $5000 every day. Rent it out.

If you buy things, can you then give that away?

If so, then I will buy a ton of stuff to give away. I love giving people things.

I wouldn't want that much money if I couldn't give it away. Can I spend it on student loans? Because I'd like to pay those off.

Nope. As valuable as an education is, I'd say it's not tangible.

Okay, then I'd probably buy books and donate a bunch to the library and buy stuff for animal shelters and then buy stuff for other charities.

5,000 is too much to wrap my head around. Can I get only 500$, buy stuff that I can then donate to charity and be done with it?

Take care of any needs (rent, groceries, w/e), then buy things for people I know/strangers. Buy things then re-sell them, use the re-sell money to donate to charity. Buy a REALLY kick ass bed.

Do you mean tangible like 'hold it in your hand' or do services count?

If you mean 'things that are actual things', then sure. I'd by 5000 in easy-to-sell stuff every day, turn it around for cash, and start giving that cash away to people who need it.

Do that every other day or so. Otherwise - i'd buy stuff for people, or organizations; tons of supplies for the Kitten Division shelter and the dog shelter, everything needed for the local abused women's shelter, etc.
That would be pretty fun, actually.

If I'm allowed to pay people with this, then after my regular expenses are met (and I'm assuming I can pay bills with this and not just make cash purchases) I'd have some work done on the house, hire a cleaning service, then pay someone to find ways to spend the rest for charitable causes (e.g. do the local schools need anything?)

Gold. Duh.

New appliances to start with, books, enough plants to landscape my whole yard instead of doing it piecemeal, plant by plant. A drip system. Groceries; new clothes and shoes when I need them. If services count then a contractor to do house repairs. Replace some of my alley furniture. A new chicken coop to replace their rusty metal shed. Theatre tickets. Presents for friends and relatives. If medical care counts then that and/or health insurance for friends/relatives/people without it.

Then when my house wasn’t in danger of collapsing or catching fire I’d alternate days between something easy to store and resell—laptops or gold or something—and buying food and the kind of non-food stuff that food banks need and don’t get enough of—pads and tampons, shampoo, diapers, toothbrushes—and clothes for clothing drives.

Maybe rattletrap used cars to give to people who need a way to get to work. Transit passes. Pet food and supplies for animal shelters. Backpacks and coats and laptops and school supplies for kids. Also plane tickets so all those poor kids in immigrant detention can reunite with their parents. If hiring lawyers counts $5,000 could maybe get a couple hours a day for someone stuck in asylum proceedings.

SA—Oh and if bills count my water bill would quadruple and every spare inch of my yard and possibly roof would be garden, unless the roof was all solar panels.

I'd pay off the house, and then get some renovation work done on it.

Once that was done, I'd probably do the same as others have said. Buy a bunch of stuff that charities need and then give those items away to the charities.

I'll buy gold, then sell the gold when the money destroyer force isn't paying attention.

lmao best comment

I watched BM the other day. Easy solution: you hire really expensive bands/celebrities to do private performances every day for 1 month. 1 million per performer? Done!
