In the dim dark past, I saw the word "slash" and simply assumed it meant "sexual content in fic" - somehow, tiny teanage me didn't notice the pairings talked about were all m/m or f/f - it just saw "oooh, people doing sexy things together = slashfic" and ran with it. Must have irritated the HECK out of people by mistakenly labeling or failing to label things they expected labeled back then (before tagging was a thing).
