Re: What are some of the craziest houses you have seen?

when we were house hunting, we came across this place that was just. Weird. It was two-story with a partially-finished basement, but when we got inside we discovered that the top floor had been converted into a separate apartment at some point, but now the owners were trying to sell it as a single house. There was a second kitchen on the top floor. It was actually a nicer kitchen than the one downstairs. All the rooms downstairs were like satellites off the living room, there was no flow between them. Upstairs was this weird half-bedroom loft. Honestly, I'd have lived in that upstairs apartment, it was funky-cool, except that the entry was through the bathroom. Like, they had tacked this extra entryway onto the back of the house to make it separate, with a rickety old stairway, above and behind the garage. When you came in through that door you had to pass through the bathroom in order to get to the rest of the apartment. That was also the only stairwell to get to the second floor so regardless of whether it was an apartment or more house, you had to go through that bathroom.

Downstairs was also a creepy melange of avocado-green kitchen walls, musty 1970's carpet, and half the basement drywall was missing because of flood damage they didn't tell us about. We took a hard pass.
