I really don't get why this is so weird to people.

I'm a woman. I like watching guys do it, but not lesbians (because I'm straight). Just like straight guys like to watch women together, but not men. VERY NORMAL. In the same way, I like to watch self-pleasure with a guy, but not a girl.

It's not that complicated, and it's not some issue of internalized misogyny or 'the pressure of the media.' Jeez.

Exactly.

If a woman is masturbating alone, all there is to see or think about is the woman. Some women may find a woman experiencing self-pleasure sexy in a sympathetic, imagining-themselves-in-her-place way, while others may not. I can see the discomfort over voyeurism, since masturbation is what one frequently does alone so watching someone masturbate alone on TV is weird in a way watching two people have sex is not because it makes you think of what you do alone.

NAYRT, but there's a pretty big difference between "I don't find this sexy" and "this makes me incredibly uncomfortable."

Like I'm not into feet, but when Tarantino decides to indulge his foot fetish for five minutes in the middle of a movie, at worst I'll roll my eyes and check my phone while he gets it out of his system. If you're sitting there flinching and gagging, you probably have some kind of phobia. Phobias don't make you a bad person, but they're also not useful in any way. Especially if your phobia is of female sexuality instead of something like birds or clowns.

Fair enough, I guess, but I'm not sure I would have used words like uncomfortable and voyeuristic if I just mean the alternative was arousing/attractive. Has unnecessarily negative connotations, IMO, which might be why you're getting such responses.

FYI you not liking watching lesbians has nothing to do with you being straight. I’m a straight woman too and seeing people of any gender get off is sexy to me. I have a fair bit of lesbian porn on the computer as well as gay and bi porn (and a lot more straight porn). People enjoying each other sexually is hot. But irl I’ve never been attracted to women. So maybe consider what it is you find repulsive about women getting it on :/

DA - or maybe you should consider your own advice of "Each to their own" and recognize that one straight woman's experience and preferences are different from another's and so it is correct and reasonable to call out the OP's claim that their issues are simply or solely a product of being a straight woman.
