No matter how long ago or what their current belief set is.

I fundamentally disagree with that mindset. People need to be allowed to grow and change. All of us have learned - or will learn - from past mistakes and hopefully make changes for the better. I think the "current belief set" is the most important thing.

Sure, but when you're an employee of a company that values public image and the bottom line above all else, you don't have that luxury. Disney has the right to fire anyone who would damage their reputation.

Disney hired a controversial director on purpose and did nothing when the tweets were addressed years ago. They really have no excuse of not knowing.

They have the right to fire him, yes.

That does not mean that they were right to actually pull the trigger and do so.
