If the only reason he was fired was because Disney is "family friendly", why did Disney hire him in the first place, given that he made the tweets long before they made that choice?

Because they a) weren't aware of them or b) thought the potential liability was worth his talent until proven otherwise.

How on Earth was it "proven" otherwise? Just because they did a thing, that does not mean that it was a rational thing to do.

Given how stringent Disney's background checks are for work that is much less high profile, there is no way in hell they were unaware of those tweets.

The only reason shit the guy said a decade ago became a "liability" is because alt-right trolls got a bug up their ass about people criticizing Trump.
