Really, one of the most striking things about the whole process for me - not just the Aziz thing but more generally - is the extent to which our society simply just doesn't have the resources and ability to deal with this stuff at all well. To grapple with and think through the complexity, the ambiguity, the questions of fact, and the moral ramifications of it. We can't come to terms with it. It's really kinda grim and depressing, because a society really needs to be able to handle stuff like this.

But I think the counter-argument would be that people on the other side of the situation should get affirmative consent, not just rely on silence as implied consent.
