Hipsters in general are the absolute worst.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
See, this is nowhere close to anything I would think of as a "hipster"

OTOH we're probably past the term having any meaning whatsoever

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What's your definition?

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, more, like, young / alt / hip

Not so much instagram lifestyle mom

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean. Her husband is a "chalk artist" and she makes a living by Instagramming a twee lifestyle that costs a lot to look rustic.

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Her vibe seems closer to (modern/Instagram-ized) hippie than hipster tbh

(Anonymous) 2018-08-27 11:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree with other anon, that isn't really what hipster means. Hipster is supposed to suggest you do things for the sake of being different, you hate mainstream, and it also definitely suggests a certain youth culture/fashion aesthetic.

Being on some kind of "weird naturalist" diet doesn't necessarily make you a hipster, especially if you're some middle-aged mom.

Look at her website and tell us that's not hipster, though...

Also, being a mother isn't the same thing as being middle aged.

Different anon here, but naturalist/"I only eat pure/clean foods" sort of people is a genre unto itself with a lot of pitfalls that don't line up 1:1 with hipsters. Hipsters lean closer to mainstream (ironically enough) youth subcultures, than this book author's nutritionist culture.

How old is she? She looks like she's in her late 30s/early 40s, which would def make her middle-aged by most definitions, but I suppose that could just be poor skincare/eating poisonous mushrooms for a living

Anyway, that website's not hipster. That is one hundred percent pure crunchy mom right there. Hipster's an entirely different demographic.

Hippie sounds closer to what she is than hipster. Or maybe hippie hipster? I dunno if there's a proper word for people like her, but I have met them in real life. They exhaust me.
