Sorry to poll you guys so soon after the other one, but the idea came up: tagging posts with the fandoms of the posted secrets.

Pros:
+ Much easier to go back and find specific secrets
+ Much easier to go back and find specific fandoms
+ If you're late(r) to the post, easier to check for your fandoms without loading the post for the Name the Fandom thread

Cons:
- Giant block of tags at the bottom of each post (90 secrets with 90 fandoms = 90 tags in one post -- yeah)
- Waaay labor intensive; 584 posts to go back and tag (though you guys can help with this)

[Poll #1239073]

ETA:

Ok! If we do put in tags, they'll go up on the posts after they've moved off the front page. So no GIANT LIST OF TAGS appearing on your flist, but they'll be there for anyone who wants to search the archives.

I agree, Case is doing enough for this comm. I just don't think the tags will work. And if there need to be tags, then at least I hope they'll add them a few days later, so I'm not spoilered for the post, LOL.

Uhhh check the post again! He said if they're added it'd be once they're off the main page. I wouldn't mind helping, but what happens once/if we reach the limit? Plus there are those secrets that nobody can identity. Maybe they'll get tagged under unknown or something idk.

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it will only help for recent posts. And it won't even really help finding a specific secret, because making one for every fandom is not possible, and how are generic tags supposed to help? Or maybe I'm just being very slow today.

Oh and, um, something else: how are you supposed to know which tags is for which secret if you don't know the fandom to begin with? You'd need to write the tags under the secrets too, LOL.

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 07:53 pm (UTC)(link)
By generic tags you mean: anime, films, tv shows, sci-fi, shounen right? They're too vague because you get each of those in every post anyway so they won't do anything to help.

Ahah you make a point there, especially for people who are new to the fandom or if they're not too familiar with it. The whole point of this is to help people find specific secrets/fandoms but that's more work in the end haha.

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, the only possible way would be really specific ones, like: I want to hit that, character saved my life, I want to be a bnf, you are the x to my y, ilu, just really dirty and wrong, wank, etc

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
But even then, unless each secret is also labeled individually you're still going to have to look through 70 secrets. I think labeling them will be needed whatever method is finally chosen hahah.

And then there is that.

Daaaaaaaaaaamn, I hope they can come up with something useful.

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Well the results are clear - people want some kind of system put in place but I guess the kinks need to be worked out first.

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That'll probably take forever to work properly or needs to be changed constantly, LOL.

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I guess new people would have to be added to the community so they could regularly add the tags and labels because it's too much for one person to do.

[identity profile] master-kogane.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
And I think you'll very fast lose the fun in taging.

[identity profile] leinyan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's hard to think of an effective method that isn't very tedious or complicated haha.
