Sorry to poll you guys so soon after the other one, but the idea came up: tagging posts with the fandoms of the posted secrets.

Pros:
+ Much easier to go back and find specific secrets
+ Much easier to go back and find specific fandoms
+ If you're late(r) to the post, easier to check for your fandoms without loading the post for the Name the Fandom thread

Cons:
- Giant block of tags at the bottom of each post (90 secrets with 90 fandoms = 90 tags in one post -- yeah)
- Waaay labor intensive; 584 posts to go back and tag (though you guys can help with this)

[Poll #1239073]

ETA:

Ok! If we do put in tags, they'll go up on the posts after they've moved off the front page. So no GIANT LIST OF TAGS appearing on your flist, but they'll be there for anyone who wants to search the archives.

DAMN YOU CASE

[identity profile] degrees.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I vote tagging them after they've left the main page. That way they're not clutteriffic and still can help people find old secrets

Seconded.

I think tags are a great idea! And if there's a way to help, I probably would, at least for my fandoms. I like tagging things.

(Also, this place makes me lose the game SO. DARN. MUCH.)

tags are for squares

[identity profile] sei-kou-ki.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I personally don't like the idea, but I'll help out if the verdict is yes.

Because choosing just one isn't something the internet can do.

tags are awesome

[identity profile] roxas.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
The game, I lost it. ):

But tags are useful yes. O:

[identity profile] leighblack.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:41 am (UTC)(link)
Keep in mind that lj still has the 1000 tag limit for every journal/community. You'll need more than that.

MUCHOS GRACIAS

[identity profile] synthetic-worms.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I think it would be a good idea to only tag the new posts and leave all the other 584 posts untagged.

[identity profile] tehanu-chan.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
I don't agree, some people would like to go back and see the past secrets. Maybe it was something that got their attention, maybe is a fandom that they are really interested in, dunno. But I think that the tagging should be in both, past and future posts...

Of course, that would be hell of work...

Murder, unconscious, elevator, etc.

[identity profile] chiixhideki.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
HOLY SHIT THAT SOUNDS LIKE A LOT OF WORK but i like this idea i like it

I say that you should start tagging now and leave all the other posts untagged. That way you can be lazy.

[identity profile] betterthanlegos.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
It could work, but LJ only allows for 1000 tags. So it could eventually come to a hault in the long run for certain newer fandoms, I guess. But it could still work :]

[identity profile] jessicamariek.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
Idea from other tag-intensive community I'm in - have the first few letters of the fandom's name be the tag. For example, Dark Knight = Batman = ba, Harry Potter = ha (or hp, as it's fairly well known), Death Note = de, etc etc etc. Fewer tags, less hassle. :)

[identity profile] jennifer.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
My main reason for voting no is a worry about the tag limit being hit, and the load on the servers because of it. Otherwise I'd hit it like an angry cod.

[identity profile] kiraya.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
GODDAMMIT

Waste of time. Too many tags.

[identity profile] captainsarah.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:47 am (UTC)(link)
I kinda think it's stupid. -_-

You could have a genre tag... like sci-fi, drama, cartoon?

(Anonymous) 2008-08-12 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Th-that would wind up covering pretty much every secret post ever, though :O

[identity profile] saramiskismet.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
DAMMIT now I have to go tell everyone I lost the game.

I voted No, because, it'll be one secret in a sea of dozens of other secrets. It's still search intensive.

[identity profile] ladymalchav.livejournal.com 2008-08-12 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
Would it be general fandoms only?

What about individual bands/actors/singers?

What if it's a secret about an actor that is in many different fandoms?

What about books? File that under author? Or the series name? Or by book?

Just some thoughts.
