Argento herself acknowledges that Bourdain paid out a large sum of money. She claimed it was to avoid negative publicity though, and not because she actually had sex with the underage guy in question.

Argento is - as far as I'm aware - the only person to claim that he paid out money, and she has a strong motivation to claim that he paid it, because it provides a way to explain the fact that a payment was made without implicating her or implying that she was guilty of wrongdoing, and because he's obviously unable to contradict her.

The fact that she's the one claiming it is why I'm suspicious.

I figure if it weren't true, it's likely Bourdain's estate or his wife would have denied it and threatened a lawsuit by now. It'd be pretty obvious to them that no $300+k payment was withdrawn from his accounts.
