Soundtrack is a good point in favour of a switch tbh. I was really let down by the way some choices were used in GOTG2 as the soundtrack seemed much more intrusive and almost like it was winking at me a bit too hard, whereas it was much more organic feeling in the first film.

Agreed. I felt like the first film's pacing and development was better. The second one really leaned hard on the whole family/chosen family theme and it didn't develop as naturally as it could have, IMO. And yeah, the soundtrack felt more forced to me.
