I don't know anyone who hates Maya because she's a beautiful woman, and I know a LOT of people who hate Maya.

I found out the other day I am actually 3 degrees away from Dania Ramirez (me->Selenesue->Dania's acting coach->Dania) and I am told that she can, in fact, act. So I'm blaming the writers for the incredible fail of her characterisation. You have GOT to admit that that character would be incredibly difficult to play and play well given the atrocious backstory full of racist cliches and the incredible fail of her lines.
