Re: Secrets you're too lazy to make

This is kind of vague but you know when a show loses the feel it had in the early seasons? Like it had a found family kind of vibe? Or it was a good vs. evil kind of thing? Then they completely upend things to make them more interesting, but I actually lose interest. There have been shows I would have watched every week for years if they'd still had that thing I liked in the beginning.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm alone in this because they must be making a decision to try to keep ratings up and maybe most people are the opposite and they get bored and stop watching if things don't change enough.

I think part of it is that ratings are flagging, and sometimes there's external factors (people move on different projects, or whatever). But I also think that it's really hard creatively to keep grinding things out according to a formula. It's difficult, and people just get tired of it.

I totally agree though, it always bums me out when they change up a great vibe.

IA - I usually notice it around the second or third season. (I was really into the first two seasons of Teen Wolf but thought they got too high-stakes from Season 3 on.)

Semi-related, but when shows start adding more and more characters. (Looking at you, Stranger Things.) Focus on developing the ones you already have!
