Secrets you're too lazy to make

Y'all know the drill

I am so tired of Philip Quast

I feel like a lot of the fans who cry that Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 in an unjustly neglected masterpiece, and that (insert more popular musical here) stole all the attention-! are overlooking one very important point:
Great Comet is a very strange work. Its structure and staging are highly atypical, the music is very nice but also a bit weird, and it's based on a chunk of War and Peace, for crying out loud! It was never going to be a surefire success.
And it still got TWELVE Tony nominations!

Do the people who say this - are they big, knowledeable theater fans?

I know very little about everything you mentioned, maybe it would be easier for me to get into it than someone who expects things to be within a set way.

I agree - The Great Comet is at the end of the day a strange show. I love it - but I love weird shit like that. Adapting only part of a book? Having characters sing prose from the book, including 3rd person narration? Weird electronic music? The entire way the stage/performance is set up? I eat that shit up but your average broadway goer probably wants something more grounded and accessible.

I saw this play soon after it came out (I never got to see the off Broadway staging a few years prior somewhere between 2008 and 2012? I remember the ads...) but it was a beautiful play (in content) and I really enjoyed the staging. I enjoyed all of it! But I could see how something non traditional aspects might surprise people. But I thought those aspects made it even better. And everyone singing was so talented.

I've been getting into the Enid Blyton school novels again lately (Malory Towers and St.Clare's) out of nostalgia and noticed two things:
1. The in-universe and author sanctioned bullying is through the roof in those books.
2. They're super shippy.

(On another note: I also noticed that weird spinoff audio books for St.Clare's are still being produced in my country and I took a quick listen into one of the more recent episodes and ... Some of the voice actors are still the same as back in the 70s and damn do you hear that. It's very weird listening to much, much older women trying to sound like ~16 year olds...)

1. The in-universe and author sanctioned bullying is through the roof in those books.

That sucks but I also feel like it's pretty common in a lot of those older books, especially in Britain

2. They're super shippy.

Tell me more

I hate to admit it, but I ship Ivanova more with Marcus than with Talia. I just, there was more chemistry to me, they had more screen time together, and Talia was just in general boring to me. I like Ivanova being bi. But if she was going to get a happy ending, I would prefer it with Marcus.

I have never been attracted to a Doctor before. Well, 8 a little bit. But 13 is really doing it for me, even just from the trailers. I kind of get now how other people were with 10 and/or 11 (and others). Luke, sexy and the Doctor just never clicked for me. I love his character. But hot? Want to do him? No. But her? Yes. And TBH that may be a big part of my excitement for New Who and why I'm totally ready for her even though it took me a little time with the other Doctors to be okay with someone new in the role.

I'm really trying not to build my hopes up much for 13 but everything about her just seems amazing

And also, yes, extremely crushable

I don't like it when people ask for recs and you give them some - especially when it's actually well thought through recs with reasons why they might like it and summaries and all- and there never is a reaction. I'm not expecting them to go and look the stuff up immediately but a short thanks just to know they registered it would be nice.

Oh, agreed! Also when they're doing a... like a fic search? They've posted what they can remember of a fic are are hoping someone knows where to find it? I hate when I post a fic that might be the one they're looking for and don't get a response. I'm like... so? Was I right???

I just hate when they ask for a search and I ask some questions to get a narrow the search field and they never answer. I have too many fics so I need specifics. :(

i don't dislike reylo because it's problematic or whatever other buzzwords people wanna throw at it, i dislike it because i was promised some super fucked-up hero/villain ship and what i found was the most boring and dull 'woman fixes whiny man-child' garbage instead.

ya'll are uncreative as fuck.

This is kind of an old gripe, because I haven't seen many of these posts in a while, buuuut...
I really don't like those Tumblr posts that are like, 'Imagine this incredibly fluffy scenario of love and acceptance, usually in a canon that's a little short on those!!! :3 :3 :3'
Especially when they drag on and on and ON.
Even more so when the fluffy scenario is either directly counter to canon (like 'imagine if the Qun didn't horribly abuse and mutilate their mages <3 <3 <3') or is... let's say improbable (every single one of those, 'imagine Hogwarts accommodating (insert disability or minority identity here)', when canon Hogwarts was a flaming pit of peril to students lives).

S!B: I don't actually want to tell people that their fluffy fantasies are shit and they should reacquaint themselves with the canon.

This is kind of vague but you know when a show loses the feel it had in the early seasons? Like it had a found family kind of vibe? Or it was a good vs. evil kind of thing? Then they completely upend things to make them more interesting, but I actually lose interest. There have been shows I would have watched every week for years if they'd still had that thing I liked in the beginning.

Sometimes I wonder if I'm alone in this because they must be making a decision to try to keep ratings up and maybe most people are the opposite and they get bored and stop watching if things don't change enough.

I'm totally okay with My Chemical Romance never getting back together. Don't get me wrong, they'll always be my favorite band and it sucks that I only got to see them live once, but they all seem happier doing their own things. I just want more updates on Ray because he's my favorite, but saying that makes me sound like an entitled creeper.

Honestly there are some characters I would like to read terrible indulgent character/reader self insert fic for - but apparently the hot new trend is to have reader inserts be literal blank nameless canvases, with characters calling them “[Your Name]”. And I hate that so much. I would rather an easy to identify with OC with an actual fucking name any day of the week.

Secret because I would never admit to reading or wanting to read character/reader fic unanon.

I was talking to somebody about a show I really like and they mentioned characters I didn't remember, and I found out there was a second season I didn't know about and I felt incredibly stupid.

... OK that would be a crappy secret. But also I'm too lazy to make it.

I'm in the book community and I don't care about Harry Potter anymore at all. People act like I insulted their beloved grandmas all the time... (for the record: I don't butt in on conversations, but sometimes ppl specifically ask for unpopular opinions and such)

Also, I find taking the Hogwarts houses too seriously super cringey.

I really like The Good Place, but I'm a little apprehensive about season 3. I just don't know where they can take the story from where they were at the end of season 2.
I just want the characters to be happy :'(
